Yes, however we will need to neutralise your lips first. This means we will use an orange pigment in the initial session (could be more than 1 session for neutralisation)and once the lips have healed to a nude pink colour we can implant the target colour. If we use any other colour first you risk darkening your lips further or having absolutely no colour at all. Note that for dark and cool toned lips, the results cannot be guaranteed.

Yes, absolutely! In no way does having lip fillers interfere with the process of tattooing the lips or its results. Note that lip filler and lip blush appointments must be 4 weeks apart from each other.

This procedure can trigger cold sores for the carriers of Herpes Simplex virus. To prevent cold sores from flaring up (especially if you have a history with cold sores) it is recommended to consult with your physician/family doctor and get an antiviral medication prescribed to take 5 days prior procedure, day of and 5 days after procedure. Note that a cold sore flare up can affect the healed results of the tattoo.

Depending on one’s lips, we can go maximum of 2mm outside. The skin on the lips is not the same as the skin on the face and things can look unnatural or get predictable if we tattoo too far outside the natural lip line.

If your lips are 2-toned, cool, brown or dark looking, you are a candidate for correction.

If you are unsure, please send a photo of your lips in natural lighting via WhatsApp or email.

Semi-Permanent Makeup (also called Permanent makeup and micropigmentation) and Microblading (also called eyebrow embroidery) are both types of cosmetic tattooing, but they use different methods. With the sudden popularity and media attention to the term microblading (it is a much newer method), there is a lot of conflicting and sometimes incorrect information regarding both methods.

For semi-permanent makeup a cosmetic digital tattooing machine is used. It’s different from a regular tattooing machine, because it has a lower frequency in order to not penetrate deep into the skin layers. Whereas microblading uses a manual hand held tool (similar to an exacto knife) instead of a machine. Both methods give semi-permanent makeup results.

The machinery and equipment for permanent makeup is much more expensive than microblading tools.

As microblading is a hand method, there is a small margin for error, so there is a high risk of scarring, whereas the machine method the needle can be adjusted to sit the correct depth outside of the cartridge, making it much harder to implant pigment too deep. Microblading slices the skin with the needles to implant the pigments, whereas machine implants it by the needle moving up and down extremely quickly to lightly push the pigment into the skin. For this reason, microblading causes more trauma to the skin.

In the machine method, a range of design techniques can be produced like hair strokes, powder, combination or ombre. It can be performed on eyebrows, eyes and lips. Microblading produces only the hair stroke design and is limited to eyebrows only.

Although permanent makeup is not forever permanent it is more permanent than microblading. Microblading has a longer healing time than machine method.

The machine method can be used on all skin types, whereas microblading has limitations.

Both methods use pigments instead of inks.

Both need a second procedure 4-8 weeks after the first treatment.

Both methods allow pigments to fade slowly over a period of time.

There are quite a few similarities between the two, essentially it is the tools and techniques that stand the two methods apart.
